Cycle Thailand to Cambodia, Touring Bangkok to Siem Reap

Why take a flight or a bus from Bangkok to Siem Reap and miss the beautiful views and friendly people along the way? Instead, try biking and explore a special part of Southeast Asia. Ride along the Thai coast, through fruit orchards, gem mining towns, and charming Cambodian cities known for their French architecture and ancient temples.

You’ll meet locals, enjoy comfortable places to stay, and taste delicious food while traveling on lesser-known paths in Southeast Asia.

What’s the riding like?

This tour includes 250 km (155 miles) of mostly flat riding, with a few gentle hills. We ride at an easy pace, making it suitable for those wanting a relaxing experience or those new to cycling.

You’ll encounter different surfaces, including dirt roads and asphalt. In Cambodia, some trails might be a bit bumpy. As you cross the hills between Thailand and Cambodia, you’ll enjoy a gentle downhill ride after going uphill, making it manageable for most cyclists.

If you need a break, our support vehicles are ready to help.

For an extra boost, you can upgrade to pedal-assist E-bikes for $160.

Itinerary ideas

This tour can be conducted by motorcycle or by car. Please contact us for more details.

  • 1

8 AM Bangkok hotel pickup. 2.5-hour scenic transfer south, starting our bike journey from a tranquil Buddhist temple. Gentle ride through charming villages, followed by delicious Pad Thai lunch. Evening arrival at a stunning Gulf of Thailand resort with coastal walks and views of Koh Samet island.

  • 2

We start early to beat the heat, then hop on our bikes after a quick drive. Along the coast, we ride on a gently rolling road lined with food vendors and cafes, perfect for breaks. After lunch and maybe a swim, we pedal on to Chanthaburi, reaching our cozy resort on the outskirts, nestled by an irrigation channel.

  • 3

Morning: Bike around Chanthaburi, visit Catholic quarter, morning market, and fruit orchards. Stop at Durian Land. Lunch, then van to Thailand/Cambodia border. Meet Cambodian team. Arrival in Battambang before sunset.

  • 4

This morning, we’ll join a tour led by students from Kinyei, a local group that helps people learn new skills. They run a biking program called Soksabike. We’ll ride around Battambang’s villages to see how people live and work, especially when it comes to food. You’ll see how they make rice wine, dried bananas, and a snack called Kralanh (bamboo sticky rice). It’s a fun way to learn about life here.

  • 5

Take a morning ride through Battambang’s stunning countryside. Drive past villages and forests to reach Prasat Banan, an ancient temple atop a steep hill. Climb the stairs for great views and learn about the temple’s history.

As you explore, see the diverse local way of life, including mosques.

After the ride, return to your hotel for lunch and a break.

In the afternoon, say goodbye to Battambang and enjoy a scenic three-hour drive to Siem Reap. Take in the countryside views and look forward to the adventures awaiting you there.

  • 6

This morning, we’ll ride through trails in Angkor archaeological park. We’ll see lesser-known temples like Preah Khan and Ta Som, and have lunch at a local house. Sometimes, we’ll see lots of tourists, but we’ll avoid the crowds. We’ll finish our ride before sunset, maybe with a drink. Then, we’ll go to a great restaurant in Siem Reap for dinner with special family recipes.

  • 7

Get ready to wake up early today, even before the sun rises and the roosters start crowing. We’ll head to Angkor National Park to watch the sunrise behind the main temple if the weather’s good.

After sunrise, when the crowds thin out, we’ll start exploring the ancient temples. We’ll ride bikes along narrow tracks to famous temples like Bayon and Ta Prohm, as well as some less-known ones. Breakfast will be at one of these peaceful spots.

Later, we’ll have lunch by the Sra Srang Reservoir near Angkor Wat temple before going back to the hotel.

In the afternoon, our biking adventure ends, and you can relax during check-out at the hotel. Whether you’re heading to the airport or staying longer, our team is here to help. Just let them know if you need a ride to the airport or want to explore more, and they’ll take care of it.

We just returned from an 20 day tour of Vietnam & Luang Prabang with My Way Travel. Kevil was our travel consultant and He put us at east straight away, which was good as I was nervous about booking long-distance. Everything was awesome, though. From the sightseeing, to te free time, the food and the accommodation, everything was perfectly well-organised and we were centrally located so we could do a bit of exploring on our own too. It was the perfect balance – My Way Travel are definitely experts in knowing how to organise these things!

We booked this tour through My Way Travel, which covers Southeast Asia. My travel consultant, Stephen, put together a trip for us that was so fantastic. We shopped around but were worried that the majority of agencies were trying to book too many activities in too short a space of time. Stephen was completely different – He listened to us and arranged a trip that was to our specifications and suited us perfectly. The guides and drivers that we met along the way were all friendly, knowledgeable and well-organised, the hotels were great, and the entire experience was absolutely fabulous. We had a slight problem with a delayed flight, but Stephen helped us slightly alter our trip so that we didn’t waste any time. We will definitely be booking again with My Way Travel for another tour to Asia.

Mr. Stephen arranged a two-week trip for us to visit Laos and Cambodia. We are experienced travelers who had specific requests and high expectations, and he met both. He was responsive, attentive, and reliable throughout the planning and to the very end of our trip. We saw magnificent landscapes, sampled the rich Laotian and Cambodian cultures and cuisines, and became witnesses to the effects of their tortured histories, especially in connection with the "secret war" and the US bombings. We highly recommend Absolute Asia Tours and Mr. Stephen.

We just finished a 5-week private tour of Thailand/Laos/Vietnam/Cambodia & Burma organized by Discover Indochina - My Way Travel. We have nothing but praise for MWT - Kevil was our travel consultant, he organized us a trip of a life time. Our trip started from Chiang Mai/Chiang Rai, Luang Prabang, Nong Khiaw, Muang La, Vientiane, Hanoi, Halong bay, Hoi An, Siem Reap, Mandalay, Ayeyarwaddy River Cruise, Bagan, Inle Lake, Ngapali Beach, Yangon, Bangkok & Phuket Island. All our guides and drivers were wonderful! I admired Hoang, our guide in Hanoi, he was excellent! Knowing that we were there for such a short time, he changed our schedule to make sure that we got to see as much as possible. It was definitely worth the stop.

Me and my brother with our wives spent three weeks in Indochina. Thanks to Stephen (MyWay travel) these 3 weeks were just wonderful. The planning and booking of the trip was as simple as it could be. I just bought airplane tickets to HCMC and back. Then I started to search for the travel agency on the net, chose MyWay travel. Why MyWay travel - I liked the range of services offered and reviews on TripAdvisor were quite positive. I wrote an e-mail with my wishes and received a reply very quickly. In short, MyWay travel arranged for us everything – starting with visa invitation letter till “see you again” when we were leaving. What I mean by the word everything – here it is: 3 countries (Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos); 7 places where we lived (Saigon, Muine, Nha Trang, Hoi An, Siem Riep, Luang Prabang, Phu Qouc Island); 6 internal flights. All arrangements where just perfect, we didn’t have any troubles, cancelations, misunderstandings etc. Every activity was on time, the drivers and tour guides were excellent, the hotels selected were good! If you’re looking for a well-organized trouble-free trip, we highly recommend you book with My Way Travel.
